THE RULES OF HOSPITALITY

*

Luke 12: 5-10

5. And Jesus said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread;

6. for a friends of mine has arrived and I have nothing to set before him. Oh, and while you’re up can you lend me chuck in a few beers and some dry roasted peanuts?’

7 and he answers from within, ‘What d’ya think this is, ya moron, the bloody Holiday Inn. There’s an all-night deli over the road. It wouldn’t hurt you to pay for something for once, yer bludger! Anyway, the security system is switched on, the kids are in bed and be and the missis for just having a quickie. Clear off or I’ll call the cops.’

8 Jesus said, "I tell you this, even if he will not do it out of friendship, he will soon get up and give you what you want when you remind him about the photo you have of him and the Doctor’s wife behind the public swimming pool.

9 So I say to you, ask and it will be given you; search and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you

10 and if the fulfilment of your desire is still not forthcoming a bit of blackmail often brings about the desired results."
