THE WENCHOSTER CUSTOMARY
THE RITES OF THE ANGLICAN CHURCH
AS OBSERVED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

IN WENCHOSTER CATHEDRAL

After the failure of Parliament to ratify the introduction of the 1928 Prayer Book, a complete set of ceremonial instructions, largely related to the ancient Use of Sarum, was introduced (or re-introduced, as some would have it) in the Cathedral of St Ennodius and St Veronica at Wenchoster.

This Book of Customs lays out the form of that ceremonial throughout the liturgical year, along with comments, notes, plans, drawings, diagrams and photographs.

Some will disagree, but the majority of theological scholars ,hold that what the Dean and Chapter introduced at Wenchoster in the 1920ís was largely the traditional Sarum Use.

The Wenchoster Chained Library is proud to possess a FIRST EDITION of this important Manual, printed in London by SPCK in 1931.

The book is cloth hardbound 6" x 10", with 93 pages of text and images. The copy is clean and the binding tight.
